Radiohead - Idioteque 歌詞と和訳

今回はRadioheadのIdiotequeの歌詞と和訳を載せたいと思います。

タイトルにもあるIdioteque。
これ実は造語でして、Idiotic(バカな)とDiscotheque（ディスコ）を組み合わせたのでは？という説が一般的らしいです。
意味は無理やり訳すなら、「ディスコで踊るバカな人々」って感じなのでしょうか。

タイトルだけ聞いてもはっきり言ってどんな歌かまるで分かりません。
そしてこの曲、聴いても歌詞を読んでも、何を歌っているのかよくわかりません。

ですが、そこかしこにあるキーワードを拾っていくと、政治やプロパガンダを批判した社会風刺的な歌詞が浮き彫りになってきます。

・We're not scaremongering. This is really happening, happening.（俺たちはデマを流しているんじゃない。これは本当に起こっていることなんだ）

この歌詞において、政府が意図的に大衆を扇動したり、ミスリードさせる、いわゆるプロパガンダを批判している内容が読み取れます。

・Women and children first(女と子供が先)

大衆に正しいことをしているように見せる、綺麗事を語る（災害等が起こった時、真っ先に女子供を避難させる）表現にも取れます。

・Here I'm allowed everything all of the time(俺はなんでもできる。いつでもね)

強大な権力を保持している人物を指しているようにも見えます。例えば元アメリカ大統領のような。

・Ice Age

氷河期という意味ですが、そこにはリチャード・ターコやカール・セーガンにより提唱された核の冬（核戦争により大規模な気候変動がおき、再び地球に氷河期が訪れるとする現象のこと）と掛け合わせた意図が読み取れたりもします。

また、最近ではCNNがトランプ大統領を批判するときに、この曲の歌詞の一部が使われていたそうです。

ちなみにどうでもいいことですが、僕のtwitterのタグ名Idioteque3389も、この曲のタイトルからとっていたりします。
また、昔好きだったゲーム実況配信者がこの曲のタイトルをゲーマータグ名に使用していたこともありまして…と、どうでもいいですね。
